Recording Fees
The fee to record and index a deed, mortgage, affidavit, agreement, annexation, easement, certificate of transfer, land contract, lease, mechanic's lien, partnership, trust document, or power of attorney is $34 for the first two pages. Each page thereafter is $8.

A certified copy is $2 per page.
The auditor's conveyance fee is $4 per $1,000 and the transfer fee is 50 cents per parcel.
If items need to be returned through the mail, please provide a self-addressed stamped envelope with adequate postage.
Documents will be sent back unrecorded if insufficient funds are provided. The recorder's office provides refunds of up to $4 through the mail.

Document Formatting Requirements
* Use white paper measuring 8.5 x 11 inches or 8.5 x 14 inches.
* The font should be Times New Roman, Helvetica, or Palatino. Use black or blue ink and a font size of at least 10 point. Do not use any highlighting.
* Provide a blank 3-inch margin on the top of the first page. This is reserved for the recorder, auditor, and engineer.
* Provide 1 inch margin at the top of each remaining page. Each remaining page should have 1 inch bottom and side margins.
* Real property documents must be signed and acknowledged by the grantor. Corresponding names should be written or typed underneath signatures.
* A recorded grant, reservation, or agreement creating an easement or a recorded lease of any real property shall contain a reference by volume and page to the record of the deed or other instrument under which the grantor claims title.
* Whenever a survey is made of lands being conveyed, the county auditor shall require that the name of the person who created the survey appear in the deed. This requirement will be met if the statement is in the following form: "A survey of this property was made by..............."
* At the end of the document, the name of the preparer should be given.
* An instrument must be stamped by the county auditor before it can be recorded.
* Provide a legal description of the property being conveyed.
Until a document is recorded, it is fraudulent insofar as it relates to a subsequent bona fide purchaser of the same real estate having, at the time of purchase, no knowledge of the existence of the former deed.
