Recording Fees

RECORDING FEE PER DOCUMENT
To record 1-10 indexed entries, the fee is $25.
Each additional block of 10 indexed entries is $25.

DETERMINATION OF RECORDING ENTRIES
The County Clerk's Office will review the grantor/grantee's and legal description of each document and determine how many entries will be required for indexing. Every name indexed counts as one entry.

Document Formatting Requirements

* An original and notarized version of the document is required for recording. The original document is returned after it is recorded.

* Use white 8.5 x 11 inch paper of sufficient weight. Paper should not be larger than 8.5 x 14 inches. Black ink with a font size of at least 12 point will help to ensure legibility.

* Provide a blank 1 x 4 inch space on the first page. This space is reserved for the recording label.

* All pertinent parties should sign the document. Notarization is also required. The notary information must be complete and should include a signature, date, seal, and expiration date.

* The grantee's complete mailing address should be listed in the deed.

* Provide the marital status of any male grantors in a document of conveyance.

* A deed can describe the real estate by reference to a description of it in a previously recorded instrument. A reference must show the time and place of filing or recordation of the instrument. A legal description of the real property can also be provided.

* The consideration paid for the property should be listed in the deed.

* Every name indexed counts as one entry in the indexes. For example, Ben White, an unmarried man would be one entry. Ellen White, individually and attorney-in-fact for Ben White would be two entries. Documents are indexed by grantors and grantees (not by legal description).

* All lots within the same block in a legal description are one entry.

* Lots and tracts that are not inclusive of a block in a legal description are indexed as one entry.
